I just happened to be strolling around on my birthday and stumbled upon a Chris Botti Live which had Billy Kilson on drums, Im so glad I picked it up and it's the best ten bucks I've spent in a long while because I absolutely love watching Billy but now I've found Renee Olstead...
The song itself is an incredible and hearing Renee sing it makes you want to listen to it over and over, 'I' think the song references the pennies (the little things you need) that fall from heaven when you ask for it to rain... IT doesn't do any justice to not say anything else about "Chris Botti LIVE" but I'm stuck on this number (How ironic that it's track 10), The bass player James Genus looks and plays like a bass God of some sort and the same great stuff from Kilson...
Renee Olstead and Chris Botti from "Chris Botti LIVE"...
Rain is indeed a beautiful thing and Renee is no doubt one of those pennies she's singing about, Here are the words to this rendition of "Pennies from Heaven", The picture is a snapshot from the DVD that I own and I forever have a tonic crush on Renee Olstead... (Some of these words or sentences may be off a little)
Every time it rains It rains hours of pennies from heaven,
Dont you know each cloud contains hours of Pennies from heaven
or You'll find your fortune Fallin all over town
so Be sure that your umbrella is upside down
I'd Trade it for a package of, of sunshine and flowers
If you put the things you love above, You must have a shower
So if you hear it thunder Dont run under a tree
There'll be pennies from heaven For you and me... (ba da da ba da da ba da da)
CHRIS BOTTI SOLO...
or You'll find your `fortune Fallin all over town
so Be sure that your umbrella (lo di lo di lo di da...) is upside down
or you Trade them for a package of, of sunshine and `flowers
If you put the things you love above, You must have a showerful
So when you hear it thunder Dont run under a tree
There'll be pennies from heaven For you and me
There'll be pennies from heaven For you and me................
This is one of those songs that you hear and just love, Cover songs are interesting when you track back to other versions, Billie Holiday may have made the song a hit a while back but Chris Botti brought it back again using Renee Olstead... I'm still trying to figure out some of the sentences that she uses, I can't really tell if she's singing 'hours of pennies' or 'our aPennies' because her voice is a genuine instrument...
My first love for Chris Botti was really through his drummer which is most amazing and I agree with him when he says he's got the best drummer on the planet, Track fourteen "Why Not" is addicting as well where it features Billy with a solo and on the high-hat solo he does this wisking sound by whipping his stick by a microphone (really cool), Out of all the other singers on this project it was Renee Olstead that had the same peircing and sonic beauty like Chris's horn...
