Extended 7th chords fall in the Pentatonic family, pentatonic means five and it is referring to the number of 'tones' that are played together. There is a fine line between a chord and a scale and these chords are that fine line, One strong fact for that is because the "minor add11" always resolves to a pentatonic scale. Interestingly enough, these chords step all over each other - If you study the chart below then it may be seen that the only truly valid of the three would be the add9...

The major add11 seem to be the oddball of the three, The major add11 chord shapes seem to be distinct however its uses maybe limited - The add13's should be considered duplicate chords seeing that they always resolve to a direct relative of the same key...
