Microtones are the tones between the tones, The best way to find them is with a slide. To use a slide you must move it directly over the fret to get the 'fretted' tones, The microtones are exactly in the middle of the frets - With microtones, you turn the 12 tone scale into a 24 tone scale - The naming and validity of the microtones are probably not really clear, If you are using a chromatic tune then you can set A to 428 and you will be tuned a microtune down from standard tuning...
Here we done the reverse of the original 'sound color' chart which was to chart out the color and tones based on the light - This one is based on the tone so we had to make a reverse converter to convert a tones frequency into terrahertz... We used a chromatic tuner set to 'A - 440' to help create this chart - Oddly enough, the purest colors (yellow, red, blue, green) seem to fall on the microtone scale...

The (* mt) are microtones, they make your tuners go crazy because its right in the middle of the standard tones.. The 'vibrations per minute' chart is based on the microtones, A guitar tuned down to 'A-428' is not the same as tuning down a half-step - 'A-428' is the tone between 'A' and 'Ab'... Here is a "Micro Tuning" chart that shows the two tunings side by side...
