Most songs are built using very few chords, maybe 3-12 chords at the most. There are only four types of major chords, (Major, Major 7th, Major 9th, and Major 11th. The diagram below shows how there are only five basic chord shapes that are used for every key.
There are only three (3) Major Chords in Any song (Key = major scale = song) study the major chord below.... it is used MOST frequently...

Here are the major shapes, You don't have to use every note of a chord. And try to remember the shape sequence that the above "C major" chords follows:
C major---A major---G major---E major ---D major
The above chord shape sequence above is the exact same for every key. The important factor about major chords is to realize that the same shapes are used over and over for all of the Keys. Each major and minor shape will be used three times, For Instance the C Major Shape is used 3 times in the Key of C. The G Major Shape is used 3 times in the Key of C - ect.
