Interval based chords dont follow along with general theory, they are based on the distance away from each other and there are very few. There are 3 'spaces' between each tone for the augmented chords - normally people use terms like half-step(1 fret), whole-step(2 frets), two-steps(4 frets) or worse, Terms like major-third, fifth, minor-third... The simplest way is skip-one fret, skip-two frets...
The 'diminished power chord' (b5) is our own name for a 'half diminished' chord that is missing its middle tone (3rd), This creates an odd 'two tone' chord where each tone is the same distance from the other tone. Of the three interval based chords, This is the only one that falls within a key and is somewhat rootless - The tone pattern for it is TONE' space' space' space' space' space' TONE' space' space' space' space' space' TONE'
This chord is in the Key of C and the Key of Gb
(It uses two tones that are tritonic)...

B(b5) - F(b5) - diminished power chords
The 'diminished power chords' show an interesting and direct link between two tonically distant keys, The diminished tone is like a window to the other keys and it acts like the fence between the major and minor chords - The augmented and diminished chords are often used to create a falling effect where it sounds like you are falling through the keys when really its just one chord...
With that said the 'intervals' between tones for the augmented series of chords is four frets - This means that you start off with a tone and then skip-three frets to the next tone. TONE' space' space' space' TONE' space' space' space' TONE'...
Every tone is equally spaced apart...

C Augmented - E Augmented - G# Aumented
The diminished chord has an interval pattern of three frets - TONE' space' space' TONE' space' space' TONE' space' space' TONE' - This is commonly called the 'Diminished' chord however it borrows a tone from another key... It has some similaritys to the its augmented freind in the fact that it creates an interesting pattern when you plot out all the tones of one chord and also it is evenly spaced which makes it work out perfect..
Each tone is equally spaced from the next or previous tone...

E Diminished - G Diminished - Bb Diminished -
Db Diminished
This 'diminished' chord also has naming problems and a questionable root so it should be viewed as a shape rather than beating your head against the wall with the formula used to create it... To create a C Aug. you sharpen(#) the 3rd tone of C Major - With the 'diminished' chord you flatten(b) the 3rd and 4th tone of a C Major 7th, in fact the 'C Major 7th' is irrelevant due to the fact that the chord is interval based...
