The 9th chords are the basic triad (135) with one tone added, Each triad starts with (135) and the (9) is added on top of that creating (1359). The piano is capable of thousands of combinations so its important to note the set of tones you are playing, Our diagrams only span 4 octaves because the guitar has only four octaves...

The 9th chords are different than the 'add9' which are bascially the triad (135) plus the 7th (7) plus the (9) creating (13579), These chords are possible on the piano but are on the border of being scales, The 11th and 13th chords use up most every tone and are not totally possible on the guitar. With guitar theory these chords are vague due to the number of tones you can play, Most times one or more tones are absent...
