Altered Degrees

There are only so many ways that you can alter a scale or chord, The 'harmonic minor' scale (#5) alters one tone of the major/minor scale which in turn affects all of the chords and all of the modes/scales. When you change keys it is not really considered 'altered' because all of the chords and scales just shift around, Changing keys would be like a classroom of kids all changing seats when alterations would be telling one kid to leave and bring another one in...

The only real 'altered' chord using the sharp five is the creation of the 'C augmented 5' chord, The 'E minor' changed into 'E Major' and the 'G Major' changed into the 'G#/Ab dim.' which end up not really being an alteration at all but simply a chord from another key, The four chords that are not affected in the basic form are affected when the extensions are added so every chord is affected...

This all ties in with our (III. Major) formula where you just change the 'three minor' into a 'three major', We are working on other 'altered degrees' which we will add to this page...
