Catching Up II...
Lesson Plan III.

Now you Need to learn the "Patterns" created by the Major Scales. A Pattern means the way the notes lay out on the fret board visually, For instance, all of the Open strings are used for the first pattern to Study.

So far you have learned the Notes for the Key of C and the intervals of those Notes - and you should know the Names of the Open strings on your Guitar as well. biggest to smallest (EADGBE)

Click Here and print out a Short worksheet - Right handed - Left handed

On the Short worksheet, dot in (figure 3.0) the notes of the Key of C without overlapping duplicate tones. After you do this, Your worksheet should look like this:

You can Use the above example to dot in the notes - This Lesson is Meant to show you how to Disassociate the Note names and See the pattern itself -

After you have created the Pattern, Now simply Look at the first pattern and Copy it exactly to the 11 spots on your worksheet. It is important to be able to do this eventually without looking, The Pattern you are learning above is In all 12 Keys

You should Notice the Pattern after filling in the first few - Notice that 3 of the strings have the exact same pattern (open string, 1st fret, 3rd fret) And 2 strings have the same pattern of (open string, 1st fret, 3rd fret)

Use the whole worksheet to copy this pattern before going to (Lesson Plan IV.)
