Hungarian Scale...

   We use to say that only 144 chords exist but have since then claim there are 70 primary chords for each key, There are 12 Notes or tones that are in each KEY and each note can be one of three Chords, Here's how they look when you line them up

These are ALL 36 Basic Chords

Legend for Below ( M= Major  m= Minor chord  d= Diminished )

   Above are the Only 144 basic chords possible however each chord above can be played in different positions on the neck of the guitar, The chords that are moved up the neck are made up of the same notes in the lower basic chord, All the chords above are shown as before the 7th fret!

  - Notice from the Highlighted area -
that a chord is either Major, Minor or Diminished
Each LETTER is used only once
Only 7 of the 12 tones are used for each Key
There are only 7 Basic chords for Each Key
There are 3 Major chords Per Key
There are 3 Minor chords Per Key
There is Only ONE diminished chord per Key

Chords + Chords =  Key of C  
Chords  + Chords =  Key of G
Notice that the Key of C & G share FOUR CHORDS
